About Natural L-Citrulline
Watermelon is the major source of natural L-citrulline. L-citrulline is a neutral non-essential amino acid. Amino acid increases nitric oxide production in your body. Nitric Oxide widens blood vessels and improves blood circulation and lowers blood pressure.
It increases exercise performance, activity capabilities and decreases muscle soreness. As L-citrulline is not used by the intestine or metabolised by the liver, it possesses high bioavailability following oral administration and a highly specific metabolism.
In one study, all the citrulline (105% +-7% SEM) administered directly into the gastric tract was absorbed and appeared in the plasma. On the other hand, only around 30% of arginine administered by the same method reached the plasma, as most of the arginine is broken down by the liver
